Pieceful Quilt Academy - Spring 2010

From the Extreme Beginning to the Photo Finish, we will teach you how to put together a beautiful quilt and along the way introduce you to a community of wonderful new friends.

The Quilt Academy is a series of classes designed help you learn the basic techniques you will need to make a quilt from start to finish.  The classes are divided into levels so that quilters with different levels of experience can feel free to take any class they want to. 

Classes do not need to be taken in order. 

 

 

Quilt Academy 100 Level Classes – Getting Started

Quilting 101 (Q101) – Extreme Beginner – Three Part Class
This introductory class meets three times for 21/2 hours.   You will get a general overview of quilting with hands on demonstrations of the basic tools and techniques.  By the end of the three sessions you should have a finished wall hanging size quilt top.  You can continue your quilting experience in Quilting 102 – Advanced Beginner and Quilting 201 - Finishing Class

Quilting 102 (Q102) – Advanced Beginner – Two Part Class
This is a two part class which will include the introduction of trianglesand flying geese in a "Star Tabletopper".   The class will make a small quilt top which can be used for a wall hanging or table topper.  You should complete the top of your quilt during the class.  Sign up for our Finishing Class to learn how to quilt and bind your quilt.

Quilt Academy 200 Level Classes – Finishing School

Quilting 201 (Q201) – Finishing  -  Quilting, Binding, Labels – Two Part Class
This is a two part class that covers putting your quilt together, basic machine quilting techniques, binding and labels.  Finish one of the projects you started in Q101 or Q102, or bring a small quilt top of your own to finish in this class.

Quilt Academy 300 Level Classes – Beyond the Basics

Quilting 301 (Q301) – Beginning Hand Applique

If you have always wanted to learn appliqué but it seemed too complicated, this class is for you! This 2 session class will teach you the basics of the appliqué stitch, inner and outer curves and points and two different approaches to needle turn appliqué.  We will learn both the back-basting technique and traditional needle turn appliqué using an updated twist.  You will leave with all of the basics to be able to complete an appliqué project of your choice.

Quilting 302 (Q302) – Beginning Machine Applique
Demi has taken Machine Appliqué to a new level and she knows all the tips and tricks that will make it easy for you!

Quilting 303 (Q303) - Beginning Paper Piecing

New to quilting and want to increase your skills? Been quilting for awhile and haven’t quite figured out how to paper piece? This class is for you! As a quilter who has been paper piecing for years, Deb will show you the basics along with some tips and tricks that will make paper piecing a new favorite thing to do! She’ll show samples of quilts done this way and share patterns with you so you can continue on after the class. You can choose to make a little heart or birdhouse quilt in class...you’ll get the patterns for both.
