Snippet Stew is basically a method of cutting 10" squares, or "snippets", to create traditional scrappy quilts.  The method works best if you use the Shape Cut Plus Ruler by June Taylor, however it can be done with a regular ruler.  In this snippet stew pattern, the finished block is 7 1/2" and directions are given to make the quilt in a variety of sizes (crib, lap, twin, double, queen and king!).
